  • 1. Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
  • My Job title is a claims apprentice and my daily tasks include sending off proformas to our processing team in India and then replying to the responses I get from underwriters.I get calls from Underwriters asking me for advice on certain claims and whether I have certain information they are looking for.My responsiblities are to answer all my emails that I am sent and answer all the phone calls that I recive. Furthermore i have a project which i am incharge of which consists of answering claims regarding Australian hotels such as people falling over or people being assulted by bouncenrs.

  • 2. Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
  • I am currently fairly new to the job and the industry so i am learning new things every day as my mentors and manger are teaching me new things i need to know in the industry and for my job every day.I have completed modules which all employees of aon must complete when they join which are classed as internal training courses. an external course i am taking part in is completing CII exams which is done as part of the course am on.

  • 3. To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
  • I really enjoy my work as you never know whats going to come up so you are very much kept on your toes and nothing is predictable which makes it intersting. Furthermore i get on really well with my team as they have been very welcoming and are always willing to help me if i need any assitance in certain aspects of my job which i always find reassuring.I also like the company as they treat you as equals to peopele who have been in the industry years which is always nice. nYou also work with and sit with people who are very high up in the bsuiness so if you are evr stuck on something there is always someone to help.It has met my expectations and more as everything i was told about the company before joining has turned out to be true.

  • 4. How valued do you feel by Aon?
  • I feel very valued by Aon as they do everything they can to make sure you can succed in what you are doing. I feel apprecited by my manager as it sees that i work hard and that i am a valued memeber of the team as well as all the memebers of the team valuing me as well. Further more i am respected by the underwriters i work even given my young age in inexperience in the industry.It is recognised that i complete the projects i am set.

  • 5. How well organised/structured is your programme?
  • The programme is very structured as you are given enough time to complete each piece of work and each part of the apprenticeship which means there is no pressure to complete the work.I am given all the resources for studying my exams as well.

  • 6a. How much support do you receive from your training provider?
  • I recive a lot of help from my learner coach and she is always on hand if i need to get in touch with her if i have any quires about anything and is always very useful.

  • 6b. How much support do you receive from your employer?
  • I recieve a lot of help and support from my manager and mentors which is very reasurring as it means if i am really stuck on something they are more than willing to help me out.They have access to my inbox and my drafts which helps a lot as i complete the work they mark it and then i send it off so all the work is comppleted effeciently.

  • 7. How well does your salary/package meet your costs?
  • My salary meets my cost well as i am only young so don't have may out goings so i use my money for going out and enjoying my self and saving when I can. I pay my rent to my parents and drive in so only have to pay for petrols living costs and travel are very low compared to some.

  • 8. Are there many opportunities outside of work?
  • There aren't really very many activties to do outside of work unless i go out with my team but after a long day at worki normally just want to go home an relax anyway or will have to revise. further more i go to the gym and meet up with friends when i get the chance but that is normally on weekend as we are all very busy.

  • 9. Would you recommend Aon to a friend?
  • Yes


  • 9b. Why?
  • I would recommend aon as its a fantastic oppurtunity really be given some responsiblity and to get to grips with the world of insurance. i would aslo reccommend it as its such a large company so there are so many oppurtunities and you get to work with people who have a lot of experience.


  • 10. What tips or advice would you give to others applying to Aon?
  • I would say get your application in early as lots of peopel apply for this role. i would say set aside sometime as well to complete as it takes a while if you are going to do it properly.If you get throught o the assesment day try and be relaxed and not too tense and be condfident in your self but not so much that you come across arogant.
