  • 1. Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
  • Title: Higher Business Apprentice The Scheme: 4 year rotational business apprenticeship, studying at the University of Hertfordshire for a BA Hons Business Studies Degree. 3 1/2 days spent on site and 1 1/2 days spent at Univerisity. During the 4 years we have the opportunity to work in Commercial, Project Management, Procurement, Sales, HR, Supply Chain, Communciations and many more, with 6-9 month placements.

  • 2. Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
  • Far more than I expected to, project management skills, professional skills, commercial awareness, negotiation skills, supplier and customer relationship management, communication skills and a huge growth in confidence.

  • 3. To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
  • Technologically advanced working environment, with a culture for learning and development for Business and Engineering apprentices in particular. The scheme has evolved over many years and is well established within the company and as such creates a great environment for apprentices to thrive. Some programmes run for upwards of 5 years and as such some work can be slow to move, but natural for the nature of the business.

  • One of the first of it's kind and as such is well established within the company, extremely well organised and structured by a very dedicated team!

  • Dependent on line manager, but often if an apprentice is honest and can manage workload effectively managers will provide the right resources.

  • All round solid and well organised apprenticeship with great opportunity for future role within the company

  • Understand the company, ensure that it is right for you, be open and honest
