  • 1. Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
  • My job title within BAM Nuttall is a First Year Quantity Surveying Apprentice. My daily tasks involve attending college and completing assignments whilst on college blocks, and during site placement a variety of tasks, my tasks involve things such as pricing schedules, pre-work contracts, time sheets and cost management spreadsheets being a few of many tasks to complete. I daily interact with many members of BAM Nuttall and also any other members of companies that are involved in joint-venture projects. I externally interact with clients and sub-contractors when completing tasks for either of them whilst on site placement. I have many responsibilities in completing the tasks which i have listed which are reasonably good responsibilities for my first site placement. The project i have been placed on for my first site placement is the HS2 joint-venture project where i am based in Birmingham.

  • I enjoy this program and believe i have been offered an amazing opportunity. I have the opportunity to become qualified within an important job role with a top company at no cost. BAM really look after their employees and help develop them as much as possible which offers an exciting future for every apprentice. • 7. How well does your salary/package meet your costs?
  • The travelling costs are covered which is a very good thing that BAM offer to us. Our wage is given to help cover all costs as it is above minimum wage by quite a lot. BAM offer £5 a day vouchers when we are in college and also pay for our accommodation which is very helpful and good of them to offer as well as all of our training expense free. The locations are good as they allow us to see new cities and new places which is good for us to develop as a person not just with work as it gives us independence and allows us to see things we don't always see in more rural areas for example.
