My main job role is a researcher and my daily tasks include looking up information, transcripts and contacting contributors. My daily interactions are limited as I work with small times but I get to work across a few. Very few external interactions. I am responsible for compiling information for programs and have worked on a few projects like Asian Network, Harry Potter: A History of Magic and Charles The 1st.
I have learnt lots of new skills at college with camera training and other admin tasks. I have learnt a lot of skills with how to email people properly regarding programs. I have learnt how to use lots of new software like Dira! and Premier Pro.
I like being able to talk to people with expertise in their field and they give me lots of useful information as to what to do after the scheme finishes. It met my expectations very well.
At my placements I feel valued when I work with good people who understand my skill level coming into the scheme.
Not very, had a gap of 4 weeks of working on small placements and not at one place, caused me to do a lot of travelling which caused stress.
I receive a lot from our college assessor and she is very helpful in helping me when I am being let down. Very happy with the support I am getting from this and she is always very happy to help.
In the placement I am at the moment I receive a lot and they are very open to have me come over and talk if there is something else I would like to do or if I am unhappy, they are very supportive.
Very well, for the costs I have to make it suits me fine.
Not that I have seen, I haven't actively been looking
Yes
Because if you get a good placement it is worth doing and I think regardless of what happends, it is the best way to make contacts and get into the industry.
My three top tips would be to be very enthusiastic about what you want to do and why, it is really important to show how much you love the craft you want to enter as a job. Second would be to not worry about your previous experience, apprenticeship schemes are looking to train people and wont look at what you have done before. Lastly I would say to hold your ground and be passionate about what you do, when applying tell them about yourself rather than what you think they want to here.
