I am a broadcast engineering apprentice, studying for a degree whilst completing 6 three month placements over 3 years. Teams I have worked with include BBC News, BBC Sport, Hat Trick Productions and BBC Solution Design. Whilst working with BBC Sport I was given a project to create a device which reliably accepts live video streams. Also whilst working with BBC News, I was trained n camera operation and was entrusted to film live news.
Yes! I will graduate with a degree in Broadcast Engineering plus I have developed plenty of skills. Some of these include: operational broadcast skills (deploying and operating satellite truck, live camera operation, sound desk & vision mixer skills & more), hands on engineering (soldering skills, assembling satellite dish, PAT testing) and training courses in project management and LEAN & AGILE.
I really enjoy my programme because there is always something new to learn and all the teams I have worked with have been friendly and encouraging.
Very valued. I have been entrusted responsibility that I never expected in order to complete projects or tasks. It has provided me with a lot of confidence in my work.
The uni work seemed slightly unstructured in some areas during first and second year but feedback was taken on board for 3rd year and it has worked really well. Theres only 1 module that I have been unhappy with this year. Work training and support has been excellent and relevant.
A lot if I have asked for it.

The salary is good, it covers all my living / daily costs.
Yes, there are more opportunities than I was originally aware of when starting the course
