  • 1. Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
  • Assistant Section my day to day tasks vary as everyday on site isn't the same apart from doing my daily co ordination briefing for the activities the following day this is done with all the sub contractor supervisors and gives everyone and idea of whats happening the next day and if any safety or clash of trades are a issue.

  • whilst being on this programme I've gained a lot of knowledge around construction and different methods. I've also learnt a lot about myself and how I manage my workload through courses on the programme.

  • 3. To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
  • I really enjoy working for Laing O'Rourke and being on the cadet programme I did a work experience before I applied and I really enjoy it because everyone made me feel welcome and also made it easy to learn things and get your head around new methods of doing a task. the culture Laing O'Rourke hold is one that keeps everyone together and working as one team.

  • I think Laing O'Rourke value all everyone including the people on programme as there training us to be the future of the company and you can feel that's what they want from you by everything they do in the programme

  • Everything from the 3day induction too in year modules are all well organised

  • on the programme you are supported by everyone throughout the company from the senior project manager too a graduate who has just finished the programme. everyone is willing to help you if you ask them or point you in the right direction if they don't know anything about what you need help with someone in the business will.

  • At first your salary isn't the best but it get better every year

  • there is many opportunities to social and meet different people in the business one of which is the annual Christmas party.

  • Yes

  • its a great company and everyone on that works for the company is approachable and friendly, including the directors


  • 10. What tips or advice would you give to others applying to Laing O'Rourke?
  • My only Tip would be before your interview and look at what Laing O'Rourke mission is and then another thing is make sure the company is right for you and on your assessment day just talk and share ideas with everyone.
