  • 4. How valued do you feel by Laing O'Rourke?
  • I feel a valued part of my business. High up management are very easy to talk to and regularly have chats and catch ups to check progress and happiness within the company. I feel respected by my peers and colleagues and everyone knows I don't have as much knowledge and no one minds me asking questions or getting them to show me new things.

  • 5. How well organised/structured is your programme?
  • The program is really well structured, it was clearly set out in our induction what would be happening when. We have 1-2 modules a year where we meet up with the rest of my cohort to do workshops and courses such as team building, organisation and workload management. These are great few days as the knowledge shared by and with my other colleagues is invaluable as we are all in the same boat. The structure and organisation is good.

  • 9b. Why?
  • It is a great company, I feel looked after and like I have fallen on my feet. There is great opportunities within LOR and some of the projects are massive household name kinda schemes.

  • 10. What tips or advice would you give to others applying to Laing O'Rourke?
  • The application process is really long and there are a lot of hoops to jump through. but that is because there is only a small number of places and thousands apply. Also get some work experience (doesn't have to be with laings) I think Work experience is an invaluable thing especially with an apprenticeship as it will be your career, you need to make sure you like it. Also Work experience looks great to the employer and will get you a long way.
