  • Degree apprentice in IBD technology. We build applications to automated the bankers processes. Daily I interact with a range of employees some of which are in global offices.

  • I have learnt how to program in both front and back end languages and have also participated in a lot of internal training both technical and soft skilled. One of the most interesting ones I participated in was about learning about

  • I really enjoy the programme. I like the culture as everyone strives to help others and are continuously learning new things.

  • I feel valued by GS from the work that they give me and the support I receive here.

  • The programme is reasonably well structured.

  • 6a. How much support do you receive from your training provider?
  • The university offers some support. This is through a personal tutor who we have weekly meetings with. There are also forums to reach out to lecturers about particular modules and office hours to see these lecturers.

  • 6b. How much support do you receive from your employer?
  • The employer offers us a buddy, manager and several mentors. Alongside this there is also an occupational health sector. In general, people are really willing to support you whether this is through career or personal progression.

  • It meets the costs well.

  • 8. Are there many opportunities outside of work?
  • University offers you the opportunity to participate in societies and clubs, these include sport, music and gaming. The company also has a series of networks which put on social events and get guest speakers in to talk about a particular topic. There are also some sports teams you can get involved in.

  • Yes

  • I like the culture here and the fact that you are given responsibility from the offset!


  • 10. What tips or advice would you give to others applying to Goldman Sachs?
  • Be enthusiastic about why you want to do a degree apprenticeship and utilise your current skill set to set you apart from others. Be open to trying new challenges and learn to manage your time. It is important to show a passion for technology and learning, making sure you can give examples of when you have shown a particular skill.
