Each day is highly varied at the BBC. My role regularly includes operating cameras, lighting sets, editing news packages and going out with the crew.
During this apprenticeship I have learnt a lot of new skills in every role I do. For example, I can now shoot and edit a news package from start to finish.
I thoroughly enjoy the programme as I learn new things constantly, and every day is extremely varied which keeps it interesting and fresh.
The BBC supports me in day-to-day work life and there is always someone to talk to if I am struggling or have an issue I want to raise.
Considering that I was the first intake on my apprenticeship. The programme has been very well organised to ensure that we learn a lot and get taught by the best at placement.
The college training provider does give us support, yet due to the fact that our college is quite a distance from our placement bases it does sometimes present a challenge.
My managers provide me with a lot of support both at work and college. Every single one of my colleagues at work is always happy to help, and I can ask questions without the fear of getting a bad reply.
In relation to other apprenticeship salaries it is quite decent. Although in comparison to a working wage it isn't great, but it's enough to get by.
This varies very much due to placement location, but for me there have been voluntary opportunities that have furthered my learning.
