  • 4. How valued do you feel by BBC?
  • I do feel valued by the BBC. The system of managers is excellent and feels like a close and valued relationship by them and myself, making you feel welcomed and valued as an employee and student. Whilst at work other employees are welcoming and helpful and try there best to make me feel valued.

  • 5. How well organised/structured is your programme?
  • The programme is well structured by the BBC. There is a schedule that covers my entire time in the course, so is clearly mapped out. At the uni they work hard on taking our opinion on the schedule and if the workload is manageable. Although sometimes there are small mistakes in the uni schedule.

  • 6a. How much support do you receive from your training provider?
  • We receive a good amount of support. All lecturers available to be asked questions and give help about work when asked. If people want extra help they are willing to spend time helping those individuals. Are very accessible as we all have their e-mail addresses and available after lectures to give help.

  • 7. How well does your salary/package meet your costs?
  • As most costs are covered by the company it is a fair salary for most people. However as I have moved home for my course the salary only just covers all my bills and food costs. If others had to relocate they would struggle to cover all of the costs. There has been a pay review that will shortly kick in but U am doubtful it will be a significant help.

  • 8. Are there many opportunities outside of work?
  • There are some opportunities outside work. There are company activities available to sign up for. At uni there is no opportunity to take part in other activities. There is a heavy amount of lectures so absolutely no time do to anything else. However this is understandable with the amount of content we have to cover in a short amount of time.

  • 9. Would you recommend BBC to a friend?
  • Yes

  • 9b. Why?
  • So far I have been very pleased with my apprenticeship. I have access to a good uni education as well as experience work on a regular basis. Through an apprenticeship I believe I have the best possible experience all with a salary and no student debt. So would definitely recommend to a friend

  • 10. What tips or advice would you give to others applying to BBC?
  • I would try to get as much experience and knowledge of computers as this is a large area of subject matter. Try to develop technical skills from the basics such as using a hammer well to being able to solder as this will set you up really well for the world of work.
