  • 1. Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
  • I am a Trainee Broadcast Engineer, I am on a 3 year programme that involves studying to do a BENG. When I am not at Uni I will be on 3 month placements with the broadcast industry twice a year

  • 2. Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
  • I have been able to perfect skills I already had in the engineering field as well as learning lots from the BENG program.

  • 3. To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
  • I think it is a fantastic program where I get to learn as well as find out what working in the field is all about.

  • 4. How valued do you feel by BBC?
  • Very, they have invested in our education, and provide us with lots of opportunities to learn and actually carry out tasks in our placements.

  • 5. How well organised/structured is your programme?
  • The programme is well structured we have a 3 year time table, where we will either be at university or on a placement in the industry.

  • 6a. How much support do you receive from your training provider?
  • We get academic support from lecturers at the university, and we can easily get into contact with the course leader, if we need to sort anything out.

  • 6b. How much support do you receive from your employer?
  • We have a scheme manager and co-ordiantors that are always available and will help us in anyway that we need

  • 7. How well does your salary/package meet your costs?
  • It is a competitive pay package, and allows me to save whilst working.

  • 8. Are there many opportunities outside of work?
  • Yes across the BBC there are loads of opportunities that we can get involved in, all we need do is ask.

  • 9. Would you recommend BBC to a friend?
  • Yes

  • Amazing training provider, we get a competitive salary and come out of the course with a degree and work experience.


  • 10. What tips or advice would you give to others applying to BBC?
  • Make sure to sell yourself if you have any experience in the industry say wether it be in employment or hobbies, such as getting involved in local radio or doing some camera work it can all help.
