My role involves working with other legal colleagues within my team, I assist them in their work, such as helping to create contracts, create summaries of new legal laws and requirements for non-legal staff. On a day to day basis I take instructions over email from my supervisor and will continually work on various pieces of work throughout the day, as well as attending meetings and advising other staff. I have worked in 3 different teams over the 2 years, 8 months at an external law firm learning about client care and litigation in detail.
I have developed my self confident while on this apprenticeship, improving my communication and team work skills. I have completed many internal training courses, many on new systems which allow me to work on more complex pieces of work. I have done external training on Data protection, Legal research and Client care. I have learnt about the legal system within the courts and the process of going to court with a client.
I thoroughly enjoy the apprenticeship, every team I have worked in has been different and it has allowed me to experience many different types of legal work. The course as exceeded my expectations and I have no intention of leaving the BBC after my course finishes in September.
The BBC make every employee feel valued, they ate always striving to improve the environment that we work in. My line manager always has time for my questions and queries and helps me improve in my work daily. I have had many opportunities to get involved in staff events and external events, all of which have been a fantastic experience.
My programme is very well organised, my initial induction consisted of a 3 day programme in Birmingham with all other new starters, this was a great way to get to know people and understand the BBC system. I receive a day a week off for study which allows me enough time to get in my CILEx studies. I have regular check ins with my line manager and the apprenticeship co coordinator.
CILEx provide me with textbooks for every exam and set up monthly webinars with an online lecturer to learn new content. I have a student log in which provides with a all the necessary materials I need for my exam. They are very helpful, the course is challenging but I enjoy it.
I receive some support from my employer in regards to my study, they allow a day a week off for studying which is very helpful. They regularly enquire after my studies and support me if I am ever in need of help.
My salary has recently been reviewed and increased which is very good. I have to travel by train and then tram to get into work and therefore it is very expensive, travel takes a lot of my salary and therefore it does not meet my needs very well.
Lots of training opportunities outside of work I can take part in, regular emails are sent around about these. There are many company events and team away days, which are great. Staff are allowed to take secondments within the work place and try out roles within different teams.

The BBC is diverse, multicultural and futuristic. It is the best work place I have been in, the atmosphere is very relaxed and friendly and everyday at work is enjoyable.
Be yourself, show what makes you unique and be willing to give 110%.
