  • 1. Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
  • On a typical day at Savers, my role includes meeting and greeting customers. I have to help them on a regular basis at the till point and around the store. My job also includes working as part of a team and making the store run well I do this by stocking shelves, filling Rimmel , zero to zero, rotating stock and taking part in checking dates on items. I overall like the different tasks that i do within my job role although they can sometimes get a bit tasking.

  • 2. Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
  • Yes i would definitely say i have imrpoved my people skills during my time here at Savers, I have learnt a lot from doing this apprenticeship as when I started I had no previous work experience behind me, doing this apprentice I have learnt a lot of new skills that retail staff do e.g working the tills, talking to customers and working as part of a team. I am more confident in myself now and communicate a lot better with others which i think is good to help me grow as an employee

  • 3. To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
  • I love doing my apprenticeship at savers as i get to meet a lot of new friendly people who will happily talk to me and approach me in a polite manner. I enjoy both the workbooks and the actual hands-on job too as the variety is nice. I enjoy reading through the work books and then answering the questions, however I love to be working within the shop and taking part in all different tasks. Keeping on my feet and changing paces is definitely good for me as it keeps me occupied and up-beat.

  • 4. How valued do you feel by Savers?
  • Overall I would say that I feel very valued by savers. My manager has been brilliant and helped me so much with all my work and my workbook as well. My team members have made me fell welcome and I now feel very comfortable around them. I always get thanked for the work that I do and I feel like I have helped the store a lot by the credit I get. My assessor has been brilliant too and I've enjoyed working with her. I get mostly good feedback but i dont mind helpful criticism as well to help me grow within the company.

  • 5. How well organised/structured is your programme?
  • The programme I have taken has been very organised and well structured for me , my work books have been set out really well and my assessor has given me enough time to be able to complete my work before setting me another load of work. I have completed work books happily and then revived other work books that I have continued to work well through. I get feedback at small meetings with my assessor and 95% of my feedback is really good. as mentioned before , i don't mind some negative feedback as it helps me grow as a person.

  • 6a. How much support do you receive from your training provider?
  • I receive a fair amount of support from my training provider. My assessor has given me a lot of support and I have looked forward to her visits. She has gone through the work books with me before I've completed them and made sure that I know exactly what is asked of me. She then went through my work books once I have completed them giving me feedback on my work and helping me with spellings and grammar that I struggled with. I enjoy doing my work books and working with what feedback i get each week and the support from my assossor as well.

  • 6b. How much support do you receive from your employer?
  • My employer has been very supportive and she has shown me so much over my current year at savers. She a taught me lots things that will help me in the future and she has also been willing to go out over her way in her time and help me with my work books and show me things that need to be completed in the work books in order for me to complete them. The other mambers of staff at savers are friendly too and don't mind too much when i ask them for help with jobs i might have around the place.

  • 7. How well does your salary/package meet your costs?
  • I think the salary is quite fair for the age range , however I have my own child and own home so it's been a struggle due to costs however it's been liveable for me and I've managed well with my pay. I think the salary is right for an apprentiship. I would like to think that i can work my way up to a decent employee in the future as i like the work and i think i can prove myself to be a good asset to the company. I think that the wage should be increased for newcoming apprentices though.

  • 8. Are there many opportunities outside of work?
  • I think there are a handful of opportunities for apprentices at savers. I have been promoted to a senior apprentice which will benefit me in the future and I am looking forward to it. There were no jobs going in the store that I completed this programme in , however I have been very fortunate for this next level apprentice to come in a store still close to home. I know that we are often encouraged to give to charity or help out with various activities so this is nice for the savers community/staff.

  • 9. Would you recommend Savers to a friend?
  • Yes


  • 9b. Why?
  • Yes, i would reccomend the savers apprenticeship as i think it could really benefit someone who is quite young and fresh out of school. I would recommend savers to a friend because all of the staff that I have came across have been very friendly and pleasant towards me. Everyone has treated me equally and fairly and I've enjoyed working with each and everyone of them. I have also enjoyed every task that has been given to me. I would overall give it a 9/10 for how well structured and good the apprenticeship is.


  • 10. What tips or advice would you give to others applying to Savers?
  • The first bit of advice i would give is to research the apprenticeship and company and make sure it's definitely for you. Other advice that I would give to people who are applying for savers is that you need to be a hard working person and able to deal with difficult customers sometimes. You need to treat each and everyone you come across whether that is a customer or a staff member with respect and offer your help and advice to them even if your not feeling up to it .
