  • 1. Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
  • On a day to day basis, my role involves updating the company intranet, writing copy for company newsletters, collating news headlines, running competitions, organising staff screenings and creating briefing documents, as well as assisting my team in response to any relevant press stories etc.

  • 2. Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
  • I have developed lots of new skills during my time at Warner Bros. - I didn't know a great deal about the workings of the PR industry before I started here, so I am building on my knowledge everyday, as well as honing my writing skills for different audiences, learning to keep calm under pressure, and finding creative ways to keep staff informed of the various activities we're doing as a company.

  • 3. To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
  • I've really enjoyed the programme so far- it's such an exciting company to work for and I feel very lucky to have the chance to start my career here. I have a great team which really contributes to my overall job satisfaction, and always feel supported.

  • 4. How valued do you feel by WarnerMedia?
  • I feel very valued by Warner Bros.- my team in particular are always happy to help me with anything i'm unsure of, but also give me the autonomy to complete tasks which makes me feel trusted. There are also lots of training opportunities from the learning and development/HR teams so you feel like Warner Bros. are really investing in your development. My managers often give me recognition and feedback which is much appreciated.

  • 5. How well organised/structured is your programme?
  • I feel that my programme is well organised- whenever I have a query, I can contact my apprenticeship assessor and receive a clear and helpful answer. The breakdown of the courses/modules has also been explained thoroughly so I can see how I am progressing through the programme.

  • 6a. How much support do you receive from your training provider?
  • I receive a good amount of support from my training provider- I have weekly catch-ups with my assessor and monthly visits so that I can keep on track with my progress.

  • 6b. How much support do you receive from your employer?
  • I couldn't ask for any more support from my employer. My team always make sure I am given the time needed to study for my course and although we are busy, I never feel overloaded or unsupported.

  • 7. How well does your salary/package meet your costs?
  • The salary is fine for me, as I am still living at home and therefore do not have expenses such as rent- however if you are considering renting etc. during the course of your apprenticeship, you may need to consider the salary as living and travel costs in London are high, as well as the high costs of renting, meaning you would have to really budget in order to stretch your salary.

    6/10

  • 8. Are there many opportunities outside of work?
  • There are some great opportunities outside work- Warner Bros has a large network of apprentices and interns, so the social aspect is great and there are often intern/apprentice nights out. There are also lots of volunteering opportunities and nearby gyms with staff discounts.

  • 9. Would you recommend WarnerMedia to a friend?
  • Yes

  • 9b. Why?
  • Because it's a great place to work and it's clear that Warner Bros. really believes in the apprenticeship programme.

  • 10. What tips or advice would you give to others applying to WarnerMedia?
  • Firstly, be yourself! In the interview stages, your potential team are not only looking for academics etc. - they want to see if you'd be a team player and fit in well to the team. Do ask questions/contribute in the group assessment, but make sure you have something worthwhile to say- don't talk lots for the sake of it! Research the company history and get a good understanding of what your dept. does in relation to Warner Bros as a whole- i.e., how does what they do benefit the company. Being a film buff obviously helps, but a willingness to do the job is the most important thing over and above everything else, so don't worry if you've not seen the entire Harry Potter series (like me!)
