  • 1. Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
  • I'm an adviser taking calls from customer in a motor claims environment. I settle claims and instruct repairers. I occasionally help my manager with his work e.g. observations

  • 2. Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
  • I was managing for 11 months and gained lots of new skills and experiences which helped me with my apprenticeship more than just taking calls

    10/10

  • 3. To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
  • I'm not enjoying any part of it. I'm purely doing this for the qualification so i can move on. The business isn't keeping their side of the bargain to what i applied for. I don't interview, cover holidays etc

    3/10

  • 4. How valued do you feel by Co-op?
  • They pay me a wage so this is why i feel valued. Other than that i'm no where near valued as i should be. I have managerial experience and i offer to help any managers if they need any support. My skills are not being utilised

    6/10

  • 5. How well organised/structured is your programme?
  • It isn't structured as i feel it should be. I want the business to really bring it to life and help me by training me in various modules associated with the apprenticeship e.g. risk - let me go and shadow so i understand this more and what's required of a manager. In terms of organisation the business won't let me have time off the phone so i can prepare myself for my next visit with my mentor so i can score as high as i can. This results in low scores and a longer period of trying to finish the course

    3/10

  • 6a. How much support do you receive from your training provider?
  • Enough support to pass the questions. I know my tutor can't influence what the business does for me, but it would have been helpful for us all to sit in a room and talk about what's expected of each of us

    6/10

  • 6b. How much support do you receive from your employer?
  • Not as much as i'd like. Please see question 4 My manager is trying his best to keep my development ongoing so that when another opportunity becomes available i have a good shot at it with my past experience, but is restricted with resource planning and other hurdles

    2/10

  • 7. How well does your salary/package meet your costs?
  • Don't know what this question means at all, but it would be advantageous to increase my salary once i've finished the apprenticeship

    1/10

  • 8. Are there many opportunities outside of work?
  • I'm waiting to finish the course and then look at applying for insurance managerial roles first

    1/10

  • 9. Would you recommend Co-op to a friend?
  • No

  • 9b. Why?
  • The dept is dictated by resource planning and the strict rules of answering phone calls within 40 seconds, the business needs to be more realistic. Also, why don't you utilise peoples skills? there's so much being missed and not improved because people with ideas or better skill set's are being left behind as they're perceived to be a threat

  • 10. What tips or advice would you give to others applying to Co-op?
  • come and work here if you want to come in, do your job and go home
