  • 1. Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
  • I am a supervisor (t3) managing a small team within the store, working delivery, date codes, serving customers, keeping the store safe and secure. lottery and cash checks tara updates training others in charity to take over withing role change and ensuring citrus is up to date gate keeper stock counts. calling help desk, contractors such as mitie and secom emailing charities such as fresh fields and arranging days in store. ensuring all ctms understand thier roll asking for membership and talking about your store your say. time managing hours withing the store

  • 2. Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
  • new skiils learnt during my apprenticeship are dealing with change, how to talk to diffrent personalities, refresh in safe and secure, planned training with my area trainer include tara food safety inductions news and mags, produce, scos. your store your say. shadowing my manager to learn different time management skills, learning how the store resets in the new year, new personal skills i will be learning will be being a new mum and balancing personal and professional time.

  • 3. To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
  • the program to me give me the time and skills i want to progress within the company, a company i want to work for. i believe the skills i will learn will be valuable to me and also to my team ensuring i am always displaying and demonstrating the best practice. my tutors are helpful and always at the end of the phone if ii need it and also working as a group to help and ask questions makes the course more enjoyable

  • 4. How valued do you feel by Co-op?
  • i do feel valued by coop and every manager i have had, they always stay in contact helping me progress and learning me new skills, pushing for me to get the best results within my role and to exceed the limits of the role. the company as a whole thinks about you and what is best for you, making sure you and your team are involved with any changes.

  • 5. How well organised/structured is your programme?
  • the induction was strait forward with the first class just after, everything is set out in a clear way to understand what you should do and what you need to, feed back is in a timely manner, time to study is given to the store which can be use for gaining new skills within the store or to learn in a quite place, meetings venues do change but time is given to plan a new way in, tasks are given with a clear time frame and outcome.

  • 6a. How much support do you receive from your training provider?
  • my training provider is amazing always at the end of the phone, she provides all the information i need and gives full feed back needed, she has been very helpful with a personal situation keeping it quiet and giving me all the advice and guidance i needed to continue my course, she is passionate about her roll and that shows with the way she contacts our team.

  • 6b. How much support do you receive from your employer?
  • coop support is good, my manager supports my learning, my area manager asks questions and seams interested in my course, my area trainer has been a great help scheduling in extra training for me to use to gain more skills or to develop my existing skill. hr has given the store hours for me to be able to complete my training. my managers have given me great support with my current situation and learning.

  • 7. How well does your salary/package meet your costs?
  • my salary meets my living and travel costs to work even though i live a far distance from work and with some money management i can get to Manchester a liverpool location would be good but could also be a problem to other learners. over all the pay is good for my role. a little bit more money management is now needed to save up for the future.

  • 8. Are there many opportunities outside of work?
  • there are many opportunities outside of work to help in the community, helping freshfields. classes with my area trainer are available and if needed i am happy to g along if outside of my working hours, we are always invited to coop and member meetings, when i am not working i spend time planning for my future becoming a new mum and seeing my midwife, i also spend alot of time with my daughter in law and god children and family.

  • Yes

  • coop is a company that values there staff they do what is right by you and the customer they give you good training and always willing to upskill you to help you progress they have clear and loyal values, and change things for the better, getting a chance like this would not happen anywhere else the have great pay and holidays and are always willing to listen to suggestions.


  • 10. What tips or advice would you give to others applying to Co-op?
  • be yourself, be honest and willing to ask questions, find out information and be eager to learn as you have all the support you need. i would have liked to have been told that i could start extra training from the start, and there was time and places to upskill myself. and known from the start that we have opportunities like what i have been given. over all just give us a chance and time to learn and you wont want to leave
