Team Manager Review

I am a recently promoted Team Manager at the co-op. On a day to day basis this entails: scheduling staff, managing a team of 11 Ctms and Team Leaders, providing feedback and designating tasks.

The apprenticeship has built on my leadership abilities and given me new ways of dealing with situations. For example although I was aware of the E2C2 model of feedback I was not aware of the GROW model which is very handy when dealing with CTMs who would like to progress.

So far I feel it has left me in my comfort zone and I don't feel overly challenged however I expect this year to be more challenging and I'm looking forward to it.

The very fact that so few people were selected for this course shows me that someone has taken notice of my hard work and is rewarding it. While the pay could be better I certainly can't complain as far as the apprenticeship is concerned.

It feels like 2 separate courses being run simultaneously as the requirements for the SVQ don't match up entirely with the the co-op apprenticeship which has confused some of the other apprentices, although I have never had an issue.

All of the learn direct staff are supportive and helpful.

My manager provides me with support on a daily basis and I have frequent drop-ins from a Learning Facilitator which is bordering on too much. I came into this on the understanding that it was largely self-driven but I feel with so much support from the company that this isn't entirely true.

It covers my costs but it would be nice to have some money I could set aside.

I'm not sure what opportunities this refers to. If we are talking about time to study etc then I usually have adequate time

Yes

I feel that although it is hard work, the business does eventually reward you if you're willing to work. The atmosphere at work is pleasant and while the pay may not be great overall it is not bad for retail work.

If you work hard enough people will take notice and you will progress.
