  • Ongoing University degree - currently in my final year. RICS - APC Workshops quarterly for professional development Quarterly internal modules

  • 3. To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
  • Work in a great team onsite who are all very supportive. The company have been very helpful and have made my experience so far very enjoyable. Only draw back is the long hours expected to work but enjoying my role makes this less of a struggle.

  • Constantly being given more responsibility by my line manager and the team.

  • 5. How well organised/structured is your programme?
  • Well structured from the start and throughout. 3 day induction to introduce us to the company and emphasize what is expected from us. Quarterly training modules for our own development. Supportive team on hand should we have and queries or concerns.

  • As 6b also. Also training at university - support is available if required.

  • We are delegated with a mentor who has been through the same programme previously who are there as a point of contact for any concerns we have regarding the programme, university and day-to-day roles.

  • 7. How well does your salary/package meet your costs?
  • Package as whole exceeds expectations. Competitive basic salary along with university fees and travel paid for.

  • 8. Are there many opportunities outside of work?
  • There are many company events that are optional for attendance. Individual sites also arrange community days. Each employee must take part in one community day per year. Lack of sports activities available through the company.

  • Yes

  • Excellent training and support throughout. Great global reputation in terms of quality. Salary/Package is very competitive along with other benefits.


  • 10. What tips or advice would you give to others applying to Laing O'Rourke?
  • Be confident throughout the application and assessment process. Would be useful to apply for summer placement/work experience before applying to get a better understanding of what you're applying for. Must be committed to work hard and apply yourself. School leaver programme means you will be working full time but studying a part time degree at the same time.
