  • 1. Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
  • I am currently working as an associate in the financial reporting team; building up client's working papers and producing a final account covering the annual period. Working papers demonstrate professionalism and document the work that was done from the preliminary stages of a project through to the final report. Accounting working papers also show whether due professional care was exercised and illustrate compliance with professional accounting standards. Careful documentation of work performed is necessary to support the findings, recommendations, and opinions contained in the final accounts report which is sent back to the client. The Working papers include sections which provide an overview of the movement of Fixed assets, the Bank account and Expenditure throughout the year of a particular company.

  • 5. How well organised/structured is your programme?
  • My training dates and any skills days that I need to attend are marked in my calendar well ahead of the appointment which allows me to focus upon my daily tasks without worrying about constantly checking term dates. The induction I had when I first began at the firm was extremely welcoming and insightful into what was to be expected of me as a member of the firm and the high level of work I was to produce consistently. There is always someone around when I need support of any kind. I have monthly catch up with my immediate boss to ensure that I am enjoying/ understanding the work I have been set throughout the month and to air out any queries I have about the targets I have been set. The sole purpose of my first two weeks at Moore Stephens were to ensure that I was aware of the structure of the firm, the systems that I would need to use on a daily basis and that I had a good understanding of the basics of bookkeeping. I felt that these two weeks were extremely beneficial.
