I work in the marketing team and assist with the day to day running of the team. I participate in updating quarterly factsheets, helping manage the advertising campaign, producing marketing collateral for events and creating the quarterly client magazine.
The training I have had alongside the programme has been second to none. From learning the importance of body language and how I greet people to effective business writing and beyond. The working world requires many skills that we were never taught at school, especially in regards to working with people and managing expectations. I have the privilege of learning such skills on this course.
I have really enjoyed the programme. It has exposed me to the working world in a way not many people my age have been. I have been presented with opportunities that have help to build skills that I will use for the rest of my life and I believe it has provided a solid foundation for my career to grow from. The people I have worked alongside are always there to support and help me to develop. The traineeship has well exceeded my expectations and I can't recommend it to enough people.
I feel very valued by team and the wider Schroder network. There's no sense 'oh she's the trainee', I have feel as equal to everyone else.
The programme is extremely well run. There is a clear lay out from the beginning of what the year will entail. We have lots of contact with the other trainees and various members of HR which creates a great support network.
I know if I had a problem I could always go to them from support. I am yet to reach out but if a problem arose I wouldn't hesitate.
I have a weekly 1:1 with my manager in which we discuss not only work related issues but every day life 'stuff', and this has been really helpful.
It exceeds my costs!
Loads...if you put yourself out there and get out of your comfort zone.
Yes
I have learnt skills that no degree will teach you. You will stand out from your peers with a years experience in one of the top firms in the city. The people are great and you will learn so much from them. I look forward to getting in to work (most days) and that's rare to come across.
Be open minded. I didn't get a place at first and I was presented with another opportunity that I was reluctant to accept but I'm so glad I did. I love the team that I am now in. The working world is a very competitive environment if you can get this on your CV at the age you are it will serve you very well, when the application feels long keep going!
