Heating and Ventilation Engineer Apprentice working on building sites on a day to day basis installing mechanical services to the building eg boiler rooms, pipe work heat emitters etc.

Yes, developed my basic hand skills vastly to be competent using a wide range of tools daily. Also have learnt a large amount of new skills and knowledge such as bending pipe, reading technical drawing, understanding heating systems etc.

Really enjoy the programme and feel like I have greatly improved since beginning and continue to improve which will leave me in a good position at the end of my apprenticeship to be confident in the job I am qualified to do.

Feel as valued a staff member as every other staff member of the company whether qualified or apprentice or manager all are made to feel equal.

Very well structered with my time being split between college and on job training enabling me to learn the skills at college at have the opportunity to put these skills and knowledge into practise on site.

College offer a large amount of support while learning all skills with very experience lecturers passing on their skills and adapting teaching techniques to sort you, also linking back any information to your employer training coordinator to ensure you are receiving the experience needed on the job.

Huge amount of support provides from employer with a main training coordinator looking after you throughout your apprenticeship as well as regional coordinators and site mentors who are with you on a day to day basis should you need any support. As well as all these levels of support all staff and tradesman are happy to help you throughout your training should you require.

Salary rises as your skills progress through your apprenticeship rewarding you as you become more competent at work. This salary covers your costs of reaching work as well with travel money being provided if large distances are required to be travelled.

Working with heating systems and pipework allows your knowledge learned to be used outside of work on occasions such as basic fixes to a boiler, plumbing work etc.
