  • 1. Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
  • for the first years of the apprenticeship we are trained in college and working environments after this we are sent to Warwickshire university on block release to complete our degree whilst contributing to our area within the company along with this are multiple choices to partake in extra team building exercises throughout the year

  • 2. Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
  • I have personally learnt many new skills in the program already from writing assignments in a Harvard referencing style as well as coding and learning a new CAD software which is the industry standard as well as this i have developed my fundamental skills in maths and science into a higher level of understanding

  • 3. To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
  • I really enjoy my program as it gives me the freedom to progress on my terms as well as developing practical skills that are helpful outside of work

  • 4. How valued do you feel by JLR?
  • i personally feel like JLR greatly value their apprentices from the somewhat limited interactions i have had within my first year due to the amount of senior leaders willing to give up time to come and induce us to the ways of JLR as well as this they have input a large investment into us which proves this

  • 5. How well organised/structured is your programme?
  • sometimes the company and the college that train us in the first year communications break down causing delays however apart from that the company has very clear procedures in place to account for a multitude of situations meaning the course runs smoothly the majority of the time

  • 6a. How much support do you receive from your training provider?
  • the lecturers are to the most part very good at providing support however there is a great inconsistency within effort levels of said lecturers with some adding extra session in unpaid overtime to help us progress and others who it seems a chore to answer a question in the lecture

  • 6b. How much support do you receive from your employer?
  • my employer gives every possible resource i could need to complete my job as well as good communication between managers and the apprenticeship allows us to modify our experience if we have encountered a bad experience and the manager agrees that this is an issue

  • 7. How well does your salary/package meet your costs?
  • the salary is exceptional as well as the exceptional amount of qualifications and opportunities offered by the program and anybody who isnt extremely exuberant with there spending habits could enjoy themselves comfortably whilst starting putting money into savings

  • 8. Are there many opportunities outside of work?
  • i have stated this quite a lot but with schemes like ESL where the company will fund you to partake in training of your choice with a wide scope and training that is put on by the workers within JLR either it being a skill they want to have and open this to others or a skill a manager would like there workforce to have

  • 9. Would you recommend JLR to a friend?
  • Yes


  • 9b. Why?
  • because it helps you develop essential skills under a great name which sets anybody who undergoes the course on a better life trajectory than they would otherwise have


  • 10. What tips or advice would you give to others applying to JLR?
  • Ace the interview as it is the initial impression the company gets of you and determines what roles you can choose later on in the course
