  • 1. Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
  • Cost Engineering Degree Apprentice. I work on calculating how much a component/assembly should cost based on the raw materials, bought out parts, manufacturing processes and mark-ups. This information is then used in negotiations that the buyer has with the supplier to ensure that all of the components that we buy are value for money. In order to be able to complete my calculations I need to have regular discussions with the engineer to better understand the components, this occasionally also involves visiting a supplier to better understand their manufacturing processes.
