I work in Asset Servicing for Schroders. I run the reports that allow the front office to understand the holdings we have and give them any information needed for decisions to be made. In working in Corporate Actions I have to be meticulous in my approach as mistakes can lead to errors in reporting, wrong decisions being made if data is not accurate and possibly even fines. My team is small but part of a much larger framework. I have found all parts of the framework to be helpful and patient when needed. It has been a great environment to learn in and having many people who have come through trainee or graduate programmes around me has helped me to settle quickly into my role. There has been a lot of training provided and the ability to take on new responsibility once you are ready is always available. All in all Schroders is a great place to work and develop and grow amongst brilliant people.
Through the course of my year I will have completed the Foundation Investment Certificate by the CFA through Schroders and will have completed the IMC(Investment Management Certificate) in my own time.
I have found the programme enjoyable with a good support network and great company culture.
I have been made to feel like part of the team and know that I can go to anyone if I need help, this extends to senior members of staff who are always open to spending some time to talk through anything with you.
The programme is structured in a methodical way. It I sometimes difficult to group individuals of varying age, qualifications and experience. However given this problem I feel on the whole Schroders strikes a good balance for all.
The programme is structured well so support isn't far away with any problems.
My team help me with any problems I may encounter, I am lucky enough to be placed in a team with former trainees and so I believe there is a level of continuity and understanding to the problems faced by anyone starting out here. The team are supportive in my role and guidance in terms of qualifications and where I would like to go in the future.
The salary is what I would consider to be industry standard for the programme however I do find it a very tight budget if living in London.
Yes socialising is a strong part of Schroders and often there are opportunities to meet other colleagues after work hours.
Yes
This is a great company that has strong core values and a great reputation in the industry which is well deserved. It has been a privilege to work here and given the chance I would stay on for a much longer period of time.
It sounds Cliché but be yourself, the office environment is very diverse with people from all different backgrounds and characters. It helps I think to have a good sense of humour and to be able to socialise with many different people. Be confident in yourself and what you can bring to the company as your thoughts will be listened to and you will bring value to the team around you, once you are here.
