The apprenticeship scheme involved three rotations, QA, Business Analyst and Software Engineering. This was brilliant as it really opened up the different job roles and gave a high overview of what is involved in those roles on a day to day basis. The roles involved pairing with people, shadowing people and working individually on tasks. Team meetings happen daily and apprentices are usually involved in most of these, such as Stand Ups, Demos and Retros.
Yes, prior to the apprenticeship I did not know any programming skills. It has really opened up what can be done with programming. Also, I have become a much more confident person - standing up and presenting in front of my team and also attending events around apprenticeships. There is always opportunity to attend training courses and to expand on any knowledge you have or any areas that you are interested in.
I thoroughly enjoyed my time as an apprentice. I feel as if I have learnt a lot from it and continue to learn even though I am now not on the scheme. I think it exceeded my expectations, I didn't really know what to expect because it was something that I had never done before but I'm really glad that I applied for it.
I feel valued by the BBC. I feel as though I get involved with a lot of decisions that the team I am on make. I have regular catch ups with managers and I am also involved in a variety of tasks on a day to day basis.
I feel that the programme was very well structured. We had constant contact and support from managers of the scheme. There was always time available to study and train.
We received support from tutors at the college we attended and could contact them if we were concerned about any work.
We received a lot of support from our employer. We had regularly catch ups around work and also around our training, this gave us the opportunity to raise any issues and queries that we had and was always really useful.
I think the salary was really good for the apprenticeship scheme.
We have catch ups outside of work and have regular social events. There is also opportunities to attend conferences and events.

I feel the BBC is a really great place to work. I enjoyed every minute of the apprenticeship. You get a lot of support and so much opportunity to learn new things.
That it is okay to ask questions to things that you are unsure of and may not know, everyone who I have worked with has always been ready and open to answering questions and that has really helped me to learn and grow on the scheme.
