  • 1. Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
  • Currently Working in procurement on Monday to Thursday, then College on Fridays, I am working with a good group of people and learning a lot about procurement. Currently getting an overview of the operations side of procurement and from November I will be working on the re-procurement of the logistics services.

  • 2. Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
  • So far my note taking skills and listening skills have already started to develop, whilst I have had a few training days which have helped me to develop my all round business skills exponentially to the point where it is starting to change the way I think about and approach tasks.

  • 3. To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
  • I am enjoying it a lot at the moment, however currently there is a lot of reading and a lot of information to take it which ultimately I am slightly struggling with regardless of how interesting it is, this however should be easier once my understanding increases and once I start working on projects.

  • 4. How valued do you feel by BBC?
  • I currently feel relatively valued as my opinions have been heard in meetings, however because there is a lot of learning at the moment, my chances to feel like I am giving an effective input is limited.

  • 5. How well organised/structured is your programme?
  • So far the project has been relatively well organised, I would have very much liked to have known my placement earlier however so that I could research my role so that I could come into the placement with a greater understanding.

  • 6a. How much support do you receive from your training provider?
  • To date Pearson college haven't really done much so therefore there hasn't been a chance for them to demonstrate effective support.

  • So far I have received brilliant support from my employer with all emails and quires answered effectively.

  • 7. How well does your salary/package meet your costs?
  • Living in London off of my salary is a struggle and its tight however it is do able with effective budgeting, however I do not believe I could do it without the financial support from my parents which I am receiving.

  • 8. Are there many opportunities outside of work?
  • There have been a few opportunities outside of work so far and I am looking forward to more which I will hopefully be able to take part in. However they don't seem to be very well advertised.

  • Yes

  • It's an amazing opportunity which I have so far enjoyed.


  • 10. What tips or advice would you give to others applying to BBC?
  • Spend a lot of time researching the company culture as this is a key aspect of why they appear to hire people.
