My current placement is within the audiences team, I am working mainly on BBC Three. In my first few weeks I have been learning about BBC Three and the importance of looking at audiences data. My daily tasks have included making Powerpoint presentations with graphs to show the audiences figures, writing social media reports and looking at audience comments on shows.
I am learning about marketing and analysing data on audiences. I have improved my skills on excel and powerpoint and I have learnt how to get figures from social media platforms such as Twitter and Facebook.
I am really enjoying my programme as my day to day tasks are varied and interesting. I feel like a valued member of the team and I am already being challenged and given responsibility. I attend university on Fridays at Pearson Business School and I have found the seminars engaging and enjoyable.
I feel very valued as we are given lots of support and we have been given an amazing opportunity. I am involved in work within the team and they are grateful for my help.
Our induction provided us with good foundation knowledge to start our placements with confidence. Where required we are given training and we are supported by our scheme manager, placement managers and our tutors at university. We have one to one meeting with our scheme manager, a buddy system where we meet up with apprentices who are in their second year and will be getting mentors who are staff at the BBC.
I have only had two days at the business school but all the staff there seem willing to help and support us in our studies.
My manager and team at the BBC are very supportive and are always happy for me to ask questions and go to them for advice.
I still live at home so my salary easily meets my costs.
Yes there are lots of opportunities such as joining a society at university or a local club. I have been to see the one show and a radio show recording. We can also get discounted gym memberships through student central.
Yes
The programme is good for anyone looking to gain a degree whilst working.
I would tell them to prepare for the interview by doing some research and thinking about their strengths. I would also tell them to be confident and relaxed during the assessment day.
