  • 1. Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
  • My job title is a retail apprentice. My daily tasks are to stock shelves and help customers with their questions. I am also tasked with being on the till and serving customers. I also complete daily housekeeping and paperwork when we are closed. Everyday I interact with customers and management to ensure a smooth running of the store and ensure are promotions are sold.

  • 2. Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
  • I have learned loads of new skills whilst working at Superdrug as I now know how a retail business works and how it can survive. I also learned all of the laws about retail and challenge 25 with alcohol.

  • 3. To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
  • I have enjoyed my program massively as at Superdrug we are like one big family who looks after each other. Most of the team get along with each other are very close. The company will try and look out for its employees starting from area managers and down to retail assistants.

  • 4. How valued do you feel by Superdrug?
  • I feel massively valued by Superdrug as when selling promotional items and doing very well the management team will thank you with a prize and if you beat their expectations the area manager will get you a gift.

  • 5. How well organised/structured is your programme?
  • The programme is organisation is not always accurate due to dates being forgotten when tutors are coming in and not enough hours to complete your folder on time leaving it to the last minute.

  • 6a. How much support do you receive from your training provider?
  • The support you receive is above and beyond from management who will try to have a hour of one to one support with you. It also extend to the tutors who will help you during their visit for questions you didn't understand.

  • The support you receive is above and beyond from management who will try to have a hour of one to one support with you. It also extend to the tutors who will help you during their visit for questions you didn't understand.

  • 7. How well does your salary/package meet your costs?
  • The salary to the job meets nearly double the apprenticeship wage. The pay is tax and national insurance free meaning you get the whole £636 a month to yourself.

  • 8. Are there many opportunities outside of work?
  • There are not many opportunities outside of work as you will be working five days each week with all shifts being morning to evening depending on delivery days and sizes.

  • Yes

  • I would recommend Superdrug as it is a company that cares for each other and will always try and put its employees first.


  • 10. What tips or advice would you give to others applying to Superdrug?
  • The recruitment program will include an online application and afterwards if selected can included three to four interviews. One interview is a phone interview which asking easy questions. The next is a face to face interview with a manager who will talk you through the shop. The third is meeting an area manager who might make a decision about who to hire if not a fourth interview maybe required.
