1. Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:

9/10

My role is being a successful apprentice manager, running the store ensuring its smooth and everyone knows there duties. Running the safe, making orders, customer enquiries, computer paperwork and ensuring everything is done at the top level. I enjoy my work on a daily basis and i think than over time i can handle and manage my work quite well and hopefully fairly easily too although i know there will be difficult times.

2. Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?

9/10

Having joined the programme as soon as I left school, I have found something that I love whilst I get valuable new skills everyday. My general communication skills have improved massively, having dealing with different types of enquires everyday, my self confidence has boomed! I was so shy when it came to people or giving my opinion, now I'm the first to say what's needed or don't thing twice about talking to my following staff members.

3. To what extent do you enjoy your programme?

9/10

I didn't really know what to expect, being my first job. Once I settled in and progressed through my first year, working along with other managers and meeting all types of managers in the company it made me boost my confidence and made me want to progress further. I enjoyed some parts of my apprenticeship more than other and really liked meeting new people throughout and being able to get more skills and life lessons too.

4. How valued do you feel by Aldi?

9/10

I feel very valued at Aldi. As an Apprentice Manager I get the opportunity to do all the roles that other managers do and I am treated as a manager from other store assistants, as well as my store managers. Being so young when I started I thought I wouldn't be able to do management duties, i was wrong. My apprenticeship has taught me so much and doing the experience in a store makes you want to finish your apprenticeship at the top level.

5. How well organised/structured is your programme?

10/10

My training from my store managers is amazing, they make me to that extra mile to make sure i understand my duties and I always learn new things everyday. My support from college us outstanding as well, I know where I am having performance reviews every few months so I know what I need to improve on. I couldn not ask for a better team/group of people to be working with on a daily basis, everyone is so friendly and they have all helped me throughout me progressing through the business and my apprenticeship.

6a. How much support do you receive from your training provider?

10/10

My tutor gives me all the help I need. Setting me tasks so I can go home and revise for my next tests. Any problems I have I know I can tell her and I know she is capable of feeling with it. I get a visit around every 2-4 weeks going through what I have learned and going through what I need to know whilst giving me some training as well. I think that the training complements the apprenticeship really well and there is a good balance between work-work and my training and reviewing as well.

6b. How much support do you receive from your employer?

10/10

Aldi gives me so much support. Having performance reviews with my managers so I know what I have done that's good and what I need to improve on. Also what is expected of me in the future. If I have any problems within my apprenticeship I can also talk to my manager. The support towards me is excellent, if there's anything I'm unsure on I know if I ask I will get taught it. I wasn't sure what to expect when i came on-board with Aldi but they have definitely given me the best help possible.

7. How well does your salary/package meet your costs?

8/10

Being at school I had no real value of money before I joined Aldi. My salary is amazing for my age and it rises every year. I am able to enjoy my life outside of work as well. As soon as I was 17 I was able to get a car out of my own expense and pay for my insurance with that of what I saved working for Aldi. I know that my pay will increase with every year as long as i, myself, progress through the company and do my part. I know that apprenticeships have very low minimum wages and although my wage initially was not top-notch, it was really good for an apprentice.

8. Are there many opportunities outside of work?

9/10

Opportunities outside of work is great. I have been asked many times to do company events, recruitment activities I do is talking to other people my age who want to join or ask questions about the programme. I have been asked on nights out and getting to know the team members more and i have been involved with team-building activities too that the company suggested which were a lot more fun then what i initially thought they would be.

9a. Would you recommend Aldi to a friend? *

Yes

9b. Why? *

All of my friends left school and went to college. As did I, but as well as learning and gaining valuable experience I get an amazing salary to come with the package. Getting respected within the workplace is great never mind what age you are, and working towards an amazing goal at the end of it is super. I would definitely say that even if the managerial role isn't necessarily for you, then there are always great opportunities elsewhere within the store and business!

10. What tips or advice would you give to others applying to Aldi? *

Enjoy! Don't be afraid to give your say or to ask questions. And make sure you get all the training you need! Make sure you also get to know the business before you apply, ensure you know their values and and names of the main business moguls behind the company too. Overall just enjoy the experience and even if you're not successful then try and get something from the interview and experience as i have done so in the past with previous interviews.
