  • 1. Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
  • My role includes caring for bereaved families, caring for deceased, liasing with third parties to arrange funerals, clerical work, handling payments, collecting and transporting deceased, conducting funerals , preparing coffins, following health and safety procedures, cleaning vehicles and cleaning the funeral home are some of the tasks I carry out daily.

  • 2. Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
  • I have developed my social skills and my knowledge about health and safety in the work place. I have also developed new skills such as how to care for the deceased. I have developed my knowledge on vehicles and improved my driving skills.

  • 3. To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
  • I love my Job!!! The programme I have been on has been unnecessarily lengthy and has delayed my progression in the workplace.

  • I feel valued by the Co-operatiove, I have been both internally and externally recognised.

  • 5. How well organised/structured is your programme?
  • Training through the co-operative was prompt and well issued. The apprenticeship programme has been a let down.

  • Plenty of support from my PFD, Manager and colleagues. Huge lack of support currently from NVQ persons.

  • Enough.

  • I travel quite some distance for work but this is affordable.

  • Yes

  • Great team to work with and be part of such a strong group, even in the current climate.


  • 10. What tips or advice would you give to others applying to Co-op?
  • Apply for trainee roles rather than apprenticeships.
