I spent a work on shadowing work experience of the physiotherapy departments watching the physiotherapists working on various wards whilst also getting a chance to interact with a variety of patients and experience a variety of physiotherapy treatments first hand whilst I had no responsibilities or tasks myself.
It is difficult to learn skills as it was merely a shadowing opportunity. However, it offered a great opportunity to gain an understanding of the variety of skills required by physiotherapists in their everyday work so I would be fully prepared if I was to pursue this career in the future.
I could not fault the enjoyment. The hospital really went out of its way to `show off` the work they do and was often surprised by tasks I did not even know physiotherapists undertook and surpassed all expectations I had and was truly excited to wake up every day and go.
The staff were very friendly and answered any and all questions I had and really made an effort to make me feel like it is a career worth following and that the NHS would benefit alot from me eventually working for them. Due to this opportunity only being shadowing there was not any reward or recognition for work in place.
The best part of the experience. Full details and safety procedures were emailed to me in advance before the work experience so I was fully prepared and had an idea of what to expect when I would go. It was also run very smoothly and easily allowing me to just enjoy the experience.
Due to there being no training involved no tutor or advisor was required therefore it is not possible to rate the work experience in this category.
The answer to 6a also applies to 6b.
There was no salary or pay involved with no costs covered with me having to cover all costs myself but that is to be expected of a placement where I myself am not offering anything to the NHS therefore no true rating can be giving for this question.
No possible way to rate in this category.
Yes
Despite the problems that currently exist within it, it is still a very attractive place to work with many additionjal benefits on top of the basic salary.
Prepare or be prepared to ask plenty of questions to get as much out of the placement as possible so you fully understand everything you witnessed but also to enjoy it as it is a very good opportunity to be offered.
