I was doing my work experience at a local NHS hospital where i was tasked to observed adult nurses job. i was in my work placement for about 8-9 hours a day with only 30 minutes break. I enjoyed my stay there because i was able to interact with patients and deal with different situation that will help built my skills and help me to achieve my fututre goal. the following responsibilities of the nurses are ensuring all the comfort of the patients making sure they are drinking thier medication in time and giving the best care they can for the patient to feel at ease.
throughout the course of my work experience i have developed quite a few skills, which invovles communication, not just with the patients but also with co-workers to avoid any misunderstanding. patience is another skills i have developed, patience was needed to complete the task as they need to take into account that the patients are vulnerable. another skills was time management, time management was important because theres more than one patient to be dealt with so it is important that you manage your time well
i was enjoying the programme because i get to meet new people that eventually serve as my inspiration for my future goal. thier kindness and treatment to other people including thier patients was unbeleivable. the programme definitely exceeded my expectation as they were responsible for thier own action.
on my last day of work experience they gave me thank you card, which i appreciated because that shows they appreciate and enjoyed working with me. the manager even offer me another time to be working with them. they value each and everyone and celebrate thier achievements.
my programme was well organised. on my first day they had a little induction which shows me all the important stuff including the fire exits, fire extinguisher including toilets. they also trained me to learn how to wash hands properly and how to take the temperature and blood pressure of the patients. they support and answer any question i got regarding the programme
i have recieved enough support from them to finish the programme. the manager showed me around the area and the ward. throughout my stay they guide me and taught me different things that will be helpful while working with them. the attitude they have shown me was unbelievable, they treated me nicely and kindly.
i have recieved so much support from my employer as everyday they ensured i get to my work placement safely and even offered me transportation. i have no problem with my work placement, but if i did they ensured that they will help me to get through it. they were very positive and wanted me to aim high to finish the programme
because it was work experience there was no salary involved. however, my parents was supported me throughout my work placement which helpès me with my daily and living cost.
there was many opportunities outside of my work placement as it helped you to developed different skills that is also needed in other area.
