  • 4. How valued do you feel by Edge Hill University?
  • I felt valued by the WCT department for the following reasons: -They trusted me with challenging tasks as if I was an employee. -The work I did had an impact on there future decisions about whether or not to use certain modules. -A lot of the code I wrote was used on live projects, so it was good to know that my efforts had an impact.

  • 5. How well organised/structured is your programme?
  • The structure/organization was the only thing that was lacking. They would often only find work for me to do on the days I attended and it wasn’t planned in advanced. Some days they forget I was coming, so they had to think hard about finding something. However, I suppose this was better for me in the long run, as many organizations do just in time planning, so it made the experience more realistic.

  • 6a. How much support do you receive from your training provider?
  • The training provider didn’t really provide an support, as there was no need for them to do anything. Also I was expected to sort things out by myself, which is a good thing, because it makes the experience more realistic to a real job, where people have to do things for themselves.

  • 6b. How much support do you receive from your employer?
  • There weren’t any costs involved for this particular program, so the question is not relevant. as As I understand no support is provided for costs (e.g. transport), but this is not really a problem, because a person attending would probably live in the local area, so transport would be a non issue.

  • 7. How well does your salary/package meet your costs?
  • As stated there were no costs, so this question isn’t relevant. Therefore, any salary and even no salary would meet the costs, because there are none. As stated, I guess transport might be an issue, but this is not really a problem, because a person attending would probably live in the local area.

  • 8. Are there many opportunities outside of work?
  • There weren’t any opportunities outside of work that were directly related to the department. However, the organization does hold regular networking events, so one could attend them if they wishes, but this was not mandatory and the department I was in gave no information about it. I suppose they didn’t not have to because the networking events were heavily publicized.

  • 9b. Why?
  • I would recommend it for the following reasons: -Real world experience. -Friendly staff who were very supportive and kind. -The work I did was used by the department so it was rewarding to see that I had an impact. I learnt a lot, it helped improved my confidence and gave me good skills, so I don’t think anybody can ask for more than that.
