  • 1. Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
  • Overall it was a valuable experience as I got an insight into the world of work and it was my first experience working. I also was somewhat better prepared for my future retail roles as I knew what they entailed. However as you are not trained, the work you are able to actually do and not just observe,Is limited.

  • 2. Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
  • I developed people skills by interacting with employees there and independent working skills were also enhanced as well as working as a team at some points. Customer service skills were something that this was the point where I started to develop so it was useful for that. However if you had a longer amount of time to learn more it would be more useful

  • 3. To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
  • It was enjoyable to work in that environment with those people as they were friendly and welcoming although initially it was a little daunting as I hd not done anything like that before. Again the limits of my abilities and role limited the amount enjoyed the programme. It wa also nice to have someone else doing work experience alongside me as it easier me into the experience even though we were not always working together

  • 4. How valued do you feel by Superdrug?
  • Well I didn't feel like I was irreplaceable because of the nature of the work that you do but ultimately my contribution was appreciated and they understood it was a learning experience for me so I did feel valued ultimately. All the staff I worked with were also very understading.

  • 5. How well organised/structured is your programme?
  • Although there was structure to the day I was item left to my own devices. Some may see this as a bad thing however it helped me develop my independent working and time management skills as for example I was told i had an hour for lunch once I'd completed a task but it was up to me if that took 10 mins or 30.

  • 6a. How much support do you receive from your training provider?
  • As I said I was often left to my own devices however whenever I needed and asked for support it was available and willingly given. I never felt bad or intrusive for asking for help or anything like that and my learning was always supported. I also felt like all members of staff were willing to help desipte having their own job to do which was nice.

  • 6b. How much support do you receive from your employer?
  • This wasn't relevant as such because I wasn't being paid for my role.

  • 7. How well does your salary/package meet your costs?
  • Again this wasn't relevant to my experience.

    1/10

  • 8. Are there many opportunities outside of work?
  • Again this is not really applicable to my experience

    1/10

  • 9. Would you recommend Superdrug to a friend?
  • Yes

  • 9b. Why?
  • It was nice to work with the people there and the staff were welcoming which I had heard was not always the case with other work places. It was a good learning experience and realistic insight into working in retail. As said before there were limitations but ultimately it was a valuable experience.

  • 10. What tips or advice would you give to others applying to Superdrug?
  • I would say definitely list skills you already have aswell as ones you are looking to build. They know you won't be that developed because you're young but showing them there are skills and talents you want to develop shows some initiative and conscientiousness. Also list any activities you do that show you actually have those skills rather than just listing them so they actually have proof and prbe prepared with examples about these skills.
