The job was of a good standard and I learnt a lot of skills from doing this apprenticeship/job. I started off being an apprentice and finally got a job after a 3 month trial. They treat the staff very well and I would recommend it to anyone who is looking for working in a team. The role I was doing was mainly on tills so most of the time I was face to face with customers which was really good for boosting my communication skills and also gave me the confidence for my next job.
Yes I have developed skills that I thought I would never be able to achieve, as being someone with not much confidence I found this job to boost that and this was through communicating with customers and the team making you feel good about yourself all the time. Another skill was trust because I was trusted with money, alcohol and cigarettes and this was scary at first but I managed to do it and felt that i earnt trust and respect from my boss
I enjoyed the programme to a high extent, as it was enjoyable being both on tills and having a friendly team supporting you. It was fun and a laugh at times due to having some very chatty customers.
Very valued, you are respected at the coop and feel a part of the team from when you first join, with the colleagues being friendly and the boss being so welcoming. When you have earnt the bosses trust you feel good about yourself and you really enjoy the job
It is structured very well and it lays out all the steps in a sophisticated manner. It is easy to follow and it's very hard to make a mistake and if you do someone is always there to help out.
I received a lot of support and was regularly checked up on from my training provider, so this put me at ease most of the time and it was nice to have the encouragement from him.
A lot I received compliments all the time with how well I was doing or if I did something right you would be rewarded. Also if you had any queries or concerns I felt comfortable to go to him, so it was nice to have that support from your boss.
I was paid very well at coop as it was a lot higher than minimum wage and you get a lot of amenities as well which is always nice. I would not complain about the salary and it kept going up and up.
Yes there are opportunities outside of work, and this varies on how much you want to put yourself out there. I got involved in charity events and it also gave me the opportunity to meet new people.
Yes
As it was a friendly and reliable job that made you feel welcome and also you always look forward to going back and seeing what the next day would have in store as every day was different
Just make sure you are ready for busy and long shifts and also if you are not so confident try out stocking the shelves rather than being put on tills.
