1. Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:

7/10

My role in the store was to complete various tasks such as shelf stacking, assisting customers, cleaning the store and stock counting. I was given tasks by the store manager who gave me training before I started. My role changed depending on what tasks were needed to completed. My role changed from day to day.

2. Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?

6/10

I would say that I have developed a few skills but I haven't really gained any new ones. I have developed my confidence when communicating with customers. I learnt how to improve my time management when competing tasks. This helped me improve my efficiency and output. I also learnt how to ask for help when I was unsure.

3. To what extent do you enjoy your programme?

7/10

I enjoyed the experience to some extent. I was pleased that I was given the opportunity to carry out various tasks throughout my time there. This meant I was not bored. I enjoyed working alongside other staff members as I was given support. The experience taught me the value of work.

4. How valued do you feel by ASDA?

8/10

I felt somewhat valued my ASDA. The team manager explained to me that how the work I carry out contributes to the overall success of the company. I felt ASDA valued their customers and high costumer confidence and motivated staff was a high priority for them. They regularly asked if required any assistance.

5. How well organised/structured is your programme?

7/10

The programme was extremely well structured. Although my tasks varied day to day depending on requirements and availability, I was given the opportunity to do various tasks. I was given training on the specific tasks beforehand so I was very much confident in carrying the tasks out. I was given the tasks by the manager every day at a consistent time.

6a. How much support do you receive from your training provider?

8/10

I received some support from the training provider. They gave me information on the application process and guided me with details throughout. I was contacted before the experience began, and given information that I was required. At the end I was contacted to review the experience and give my thoughts.

6b. How much support do you receive from your employer?

6/10

I received a huge amount of support from ASDA. I was given clear daily instructions of my roles and tasks from the store manager. I also received moral support and encouragement from the staff members. I felt appreciated and felt confidence in asking for help or assistance when I required.

7. How well does your salary/package meet your costs?

10/10

My costs are very low. I live with my parents so do not need to pay towards any utility costs. I walk to the store so did not need to pay for any travel. I purchased food and drinks from the store and ate lunch in the canteen. I only paid for food and drink.

8. Are there many opportunities outside of work?

7/10

There are many opportunities outside of work. The city offers lots of activities for the community. For example, there are many leisures centres which offer activities such as swimming, paint balling and bowling. We also have many gyms which provide the oppurtunity to keep fit and healthy. I take part in some of these in my free time.

9. Would you recommend ASDA to a friend?

Yes

9b. Why?

Yes, I would recommend ASDA to others. A reason for this is because ASDA offers works for people with different sets of skills. They provide a safe working environment and achievable goals. They provide the necessary training and support when required. They treat their staff with respect and show value towards them.

10. What tips or advice would you give to others applying to ASDA?

I would advise others to fully enquiry about the role beforehand to ensure their are fully aware of the experience. This will ensure their are suitable for the role and will avoid disappointment later. I would also advise others to build a good working relationship with the staff, as this will make it more easier to approach them for help.
