  • 1. Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
  • I am a Test Analyst, and I am a part of the Coolgen team. My daily tasks involve using CESA, SQL, NTC, etc. I lease with people I am working with, further developing my communication skills. I have worked on a number of projects, i.e. 84DZ (current project), 25FM, EN17, and many more. On a day-to-day basis, I am always kept busy, if I don't have any project work, I will be learning something else.

  • 2. Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
  • I have been on several different courses, i.e. SQL Training. These have all helped me to further enhance my knowledge, and my skills. In regards to the university aspect of this degree, I have a module called "Professional Practice", this has increased my level of professionalism in and around the office. My tutor has inspired me to always ensure I am mature, and approach everything with a professional manner.

  • 4. How valued do you feel by Capgemini?
  • I have been here for 9 months, and I have already got an applaud reward of £50, as well as a pay rise. I am always getting verbal praise as well, which is so lovely to hear - it really motivates you and makes you want to learn more. Management are always there for you if you need them, and are always willing to learn.

  • 5. How well organised/structured is your programme?
  • The programme is very organised, on our induction we found out exactly what we were going to be studying at University, and how long we will be there for, we were informed of our wages, and any contacts for support. When we arrived at University, we straight away got down to work, this was fun and made even better by the people that were in my intake. Everybody was more like a family, it was weird how well we all got on, instantly everyone just clicked. We had study groups in our flats, we also had down time with one another. If I could do it again, I would!!!!

  • 6a. How much support do you receive from your training provider?
  • As I have mentioned above, the managers are always there for you, 100%. I have recently had a few issues in regards to members of my family becoming severely ill - I informed my manager and straight away she comforted me and said if I needed time off to just take it.

  • 6b. How much support do you receive from your employer?
  • See above.

  • 7. How well does your salary/package meet your costs?
  • My salary is very good for my age - if, unlike me, you don't have a lot of bills to pay, then the salary is very good. I have rent, food, car, etc. so it doesn't leave me with a reasonable amount for myself. However, I am continuously working so hard so I can get pay rises, and I can get promotions, so I can get as high as I can on my personal career path.

  • 8. Are there many opportunities outside of work?
  • Yes! I have done SO many volunteering events!! I have been to schools, presenting our apprenticeship schemes there, I was also in a video yesterday, I travelled to Aston to take part in a video that will be shown for Astons Annual Charter Event. I have also taken part in the Brathay Challenge, and so much more!

  • 10. What tips or advice would you give to others applying to Capgemini?
  • Just be yourself - cliché I know. But Capgemini employ people on their personalities.
