  • I am training to be an engineering maintenance technician. Day to day work in the first year consists of working towards achieving BTEC and NVQ qualifications and getting ready to work on the nuclear power station.

  • I have gained BTEC and NVQ qualifications and learnt many new practical skills.

  • 3. To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
  • I enjoy every part of the programme. There is a lot of teamwork involved and I find this useful in terms of developing my own personal skills.

  • 4. How valued do you feel by EDF?
  • I feel very valued by the company as they show recognition for the positive things I do.

  • 5. How well organised/structured is your programme?
  • The program is very well structured. Each unit is set out in an organised way and I am given suitable inductions before the start of a new unit.

  • The training providers give me lots of support when I need it.

  • 6b. How much support do you receive from your employer?
  • My employer also gives me a lot of support whenever I need to know anything or am unsure about anything regarding work.

  • Living costs and food costs are covered by the company so this helps me to save my salary instead of spending it on living.

  • 8. Are there many opportunities outside of work?
  • The company give us the opportunity to go to a number of different events throughout the year. They also put on a lot of sport clubs to help keep us fit.

  • 9. Would you recommend EDF to a friend?
  • Yes


  • 9b. Why?
  • It is an extremely good opportunity to take if given the chance to. There is a big chance for progression within this career.


  • 10. What tips or advice would you give to others applying to EDF?
  • Express your interest in engineering and do research into the company before any interviews etc. Complete practice aptitude tests to help you with the ones held at the power station.
