1. Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:

I'm a software engineer. What it involves varies depending on the project. I've spent some time working as a tester, writing automated tests for a large application, and I've more recently worked as a front end developer writing features for iPhone and android apps we've built for clients.

2. Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?

I've learnt several programming languages like Java, JavaScript, Python, as well as HTML, and I've also learnt the principles of extreme programming, like Test Driven Development. I've developed communication skills working in teams small and large.

3. To what extent do you enjoy your programme?

I enjoy it greatly. It's been more challenging than I expected it to be but I've found Capgemini a really fun place to work, and managers I've worked under have always made me feel valued, which hasn't been the case with other workplaces.

4. How valued do you feel by Capgemini?

I feel very highly valued. They have a rewards programme where employees get rewarded for good performance, and I've recently had my first promotion. They have invested heavily in me, paying for the degree, and recently sent me on a course, costing them a lot of money. It's nice to know that they think I'm worth the investment.

5. How well organised/structured is your programme?

I feel like the university could be more organised, but Capgemini have been very good. They give us all the information we need, and we have a good idea of the path our careers will take for the length of the whole programme.

6a. How much support do you receive from your training provider?

Quite a lot, there is an online system with all the information we need, although it can be tricky to navigate at times, and there are points of contact we can reach out to for anything we need.

6b. How much support do you receive from your employer?

Loads, we get extra days off for studying and our line managers take a real interest in how we're getting on with our work and our degree programme.

7. How well does your salary/package meet your costs?

Not so good, but it's what I expected. I am an anomaly in that I'm older than most apprentices with a wife and three kids, so, financially, I'm not doing so well on the programme, but the important thing for me is that as I progress, I know it will be worth it in the long run.

8. Are there many opportunities outside of work?

I'm not sure I understand the question. Capgemini do like to do social events, and that is encouraged. They also encourage community support and stuff. They recently entered a team in the palace to palace bike event to raise money for charity.

9. Would you recommend Capgemini to a friend?

Yes

9b. Why?

It's a really fun place to work and the apprenticeship is a great way to earn a living while gaining the skills to become a fully qualified software engineer.

10. What tips or advice would you give to others applying to Capgemini?

In the interviews just relax and let your personality show, they're very interested in you as a person rather than what you know. They're going to teach you the skills, they want to hire people who work well with others and have interesting personalities
