1. Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:

I am a junior auditor, working across a range of clients within the Banking and Capital Markets Industry. This involves testing various balances produced by the client to ensure that they are legitimate.

2. Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?

Initial training is highly useful and thorough, and on top of this, I have learnt a lot through studying towards the ACA.

3. To what extent do you enjoy your programme?

The social side to the firm as a whole is brilliant, and although the work does have its boring moments, overall, I think the programme is definitely a good start to my career.

4. How valued do you feel by Deloitte?

The firm offers numerous rewards for employees that work hard, both monetary and non-monetary. There are plenty of opportunities to get involved in a wide range of work within the firm.

5. How well organised/structured is your programme?

The programme is fairly new (3 years old now) so the initial joiners are just starting to progress towards management positions. The firm as a whole is very structured, and there is clear progression over the first few years of the programme. We have the same training and induction as the graduates who join, with the only difference really being in the exams. The graduates are at college and sit the exams a lot faster than the school leavers.

6a. How much support do you receive from your training provider?

The exams are difficult, but we have plenty of support from the college that we study at, including being able to contact our tutor, and receiving a swift response.

6b. How much support do you receive from your employer?

Each employee has an appraiser, which is a formal point of contact. We also have mentors as a more informal point of contact, if we have any issues, or queries. There is a lot of information available on our intranet, and there is always someone available to ask if I have any queries.

7. How well does your salary/package meet your costs?

In my opinion, the pay is very good, much better than most of the apprenticeships that I had also considered at the time.

8. Are there many opportunities outside of work?

Numerous social events, sports clubs and societies within the firm.

10. What tips or advice would you give to others applying to Deloitte?

Make sure you have done your research, and are confident in talking about your role, and yourself. Show any interviewer that you are ambitious, but try to get to know them on a personal level as well as a professional one.
