  • 2. Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
  • I have gained my Institute of Environmental Management and Assessment Certificate and have become a practitioner member of IEMA (PIEMA) as well as my NEBOSH certificate - I am currently planning on joining the institute of occupational safety and health with this qualification. I have also completed my SVQ3 in Occupational Health and Safety (currently working on level 4) and I am starting my NEBOSH diploma. Since starting my communication and presentation skills have improved along with other soft skills such as time keeping and project management. I have attended an outward bound course with other apprentices from the global network from my year group which helped build on these soft skills as well as giving us the opportunity to speak to and meet likeminded apprentices in similar or totally different job roles.

  • 3. To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
  • I enjoy the work I do and I find it extremely fulfilling to be able to see part of my work being implemented on a site level. The team that I work with are all very supportive and are great at answering questions, demonstrating our safety systems and explaining the processes on site.

  • As with any job application it is extremely important to learn a bit about the company and, in particular, the specific site that you are applying for.
