Quality Technician Review

I am currently in the parts quality department as a quality technician. I am a supporting role to the production line that deals with any defects or issues with parts. My job is to contain the issue making sure that issues found on parts dont make it to other cars. Organsing stock checks and liasing with suppliers over email and phone the issue and how we can ensure the problem doesnt happen again.

I have learnt many new skills. I have learnt how to be confident and official over emails and phone calls. I have also learnt how to use the companies softwares that are key for my job. This could be to check part drawings and CAD designs and stock levels in our warehouse.

I do enjoy the programme alot as it is very interesting and it pushes my abilities making me work hard to achieve my goals. I do enjoy the college course aswell as it gives me very good ground knowledge to take into the engineering world. However, i do find that college isnt really related to work at all and would find a more focused course that helps work life very helpful.

I do feel very valued by Rolls-Royce becuase i am finding that i am given more and more responsiblity as i progress which is very good because it shows i am being trusted more with daily tasks. My managers work very closely with me and check up on me regularly to make sure that i am on track.

I dont feel that our programme is that well organised at all because everything seems to be arranged at the last minute such as what we are doing at college and what days we are going to college. Although the way that everything is organsied at work is very good. My manager an i are working together to set up my placements in the company.

We do recieve alot of support from our training provider as she is always there if we need some help or need to report a problem. she is very approchable and i know where she is if i have a question about my apprenticeship. We also have a college tutor that helps organise our courses.

We recieve the most support from our employer/manager as i am involved with them alot at work. I have regular 1:1 with my manager to discuss how everything is going and to organise what i am going to do next. I can also contact them on email and i get a very quick response from them all the time.

I am 17 and the salary does meet my costs very well. I have just started driving and this has covered this very well and the company car shcheme works very well in my favour. There isnt ussually a time in the month that i find the salary too little. I have also experinced one pay rise and have one to come this august 2017 which is very helpful as i slowly gather more responsibilities outside work.

Yes there are plenty of opportunities outside work. For example, i invited my friends along to an open day where they got to experience out product and see where i worked. I am also involved with our department social activites that are arranged very consistently and are open to anyone in my department.

An apprenticeship at Rolls-Royce Motorcars is a great opportunity to start your career in the motor manufacting business. You get very good work experience alongside a great qualification that is hgihly regarded by employers. Work life is very interesting and you get put in a wide range of situations that help you devlop your skills

My advice to anyone applying for an apprenticeship at Rolls-Royce is that you be yourself and show them that you are wanting to learn and are very keen and able to pick new skills up. Prove to them that you are hard working and want to porgress through the company ladder to go far in your career.
