  • 2. Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
  • Yes, I have learnt a variety of skills including different computer programmes, both Microsoft office and department specific. I've also had training over soft skills such as presentation, communication; and also specific areas such as Tax and audit.

  • 3. To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
  • I enjoy the work and the progress I am making. I think above all else I enjoy the end result I am working towards in terms of position at the company and being a qualified accountant and tax advisor.

  • 4. How valued do you feel by KPMG?
  • I feel valued by my team, they trust me to get jobs done. I do find that nationally on the programme the feeling is less so given the number of apprentices.

  • 5. How well organised/structured is your programme?
  • I feel that given we are the first year the management team of the programme are constantly learning, there is a structure in place but this is constantly changing due to our feedback about what works and what doesn't. Sometimes clarity around certain aspects is left to be desired.

  • 6a. How much support do you receive from your training provider?
  • I feel the support is adequate. Sometimes we aren't given clear answers because for instance we have asked the individual directly instead of asking the question on an online forum, we are then just directed to the forum which is time consuming, our queries could be answered much quicker.

  • 6b. How much support do you receive from your employer?
  • I think we receive a lot. Given the support structure in place we have a long list of people we can reach out to for help and guidance. Regular training is provided and messages cascaded down on relevant information.

  • 7. How well does your salary/package meet your costs?
  • Quite well. I think given the age range our programme is aimed at we are rewarded quite well. I think more clarity should be given about what our reward package will look like at different levels on the programme would be massively helpful for planning for the future. It has however allowed me to buy a house so I can't complain!!!

  • 8. Are there many opportunities outside of work?
  • Personally this is not something I have looked into. There are social committees and activities but I have never found the communication of them to be good enough.

    7/10

  • 9. Would you recommend KPMG to a friend?
  • Yes

  • 9b. Why?
  • Because its got a great people atmosphere. the work load has always been manageable and in times of exams etc. I think real consideration is given by my team to allow me to do the best I can. I feel valued, and rewarded appropriately and I feel I can achieve my short term goals of becoming qualified for sure, and potentially this could be a company I don't leave.

  • 10. What tips or advice would you give to others applying to KPMG?
  • By yourself, do appropriate research, really understand the process and the stages. Always keep your options open too!
