  • 1. Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
  • Controls and Instrumentation Maintenance apprentice. Complete preventative and reactive maintenance tasks on plant instrumentation. Interact daily with fellow colleagues, including those from other teams and from operations. Responsibilities include taking the ownership to learn and to see as much of the plant as possible to help complete the apprenticeship and become a capable technician.

  • I have learnt many new skills since joining the apprenticeship whilst also gaining more qualifications such as a HNC in electrical engineering.

  • I fully enjoy all aspects of the programme.

  • I often receive feedback from my managers and when earned, recognition and praise is given.

  • The scheme is very organised and the training and support given is well suited to what I have required.

  • Support is provided whenever it is needed from all colleagues and tutors.

  • Yes, there are constantly events or activities for all employees to take part in.

  • Yes

  • It is a great scheme that offers the chance to learn new skills and meet lots of new people.


  • 10. What tips or advice would you give to others applying to EDF?
  • Be prepared. Do your homework and learn what is needed for your interview. Take advantage of the visitors centers that most sites offer and even look to gain some work experience to see if it is really for you.
