The day to day of the BBC Apprenticeship varied greatly, from office based paperwork and pre-production to on the location audio/visual work. Depending on the department and what was going on in your area at the time.
Yeah, loads and loads, audio editing, call handling, maintaining networks and relationships, research skills. Really, loads of things.
Enormously, I've since completed it (and remained in employment off the back of it) during, I enjoyed it enormously, in hindsight even more.
Occasionally you can feel a little lost in the department, or a little forgotten, this is understandable as it's a real life working office, and people there are real life working people with deadlines and things of there own, there is a certain responsibility to get the most from your current department yourself. however there is an excellent support network in place for each apprentice.
It's a little flung together at times, but this adds to the experience if anything, if an apprenticeship is about gaining experience, then working in a pieced together "fake" experience doesn't do you any favors.
The training provider was good, we had one regular point of contact and he was very helpful.
great support networks available, at all times there were around 5 people I could speak to at any time if i had any issues, it wasn't used often, however was comforting to know it was there.
The wage is poor, I really struggled to get by, that said I would have done the scheme for free.
I'm not sure I understand this question, there were many opportunities to get out of the office and work, and at least one placement working for another company for a day, however outside of that not really.
Yes
Really great place to work, if nothing else my CV a the end of the scheme was much better off, but it's also good fun, meeting people and making entertainment.
Get some extra curricular activities under your belt, show you can commit and care about something, and don't be shy.
