  • 1. Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
  • My job title is Vehicle Services Apprentice. My role includes working in the admin dept working with keys, V5's, Tax Discs and Banking, as well as dealing with queries involving in the selling of our vehicles. Day to day I interact with my whole department - including logistics and sales. I also interact with buyers, remarketers and members of the general public who have enquiries. Each team member has their own job for the week/month depending on what it is. This is when you are responsible for completing a process start to finish for that area.

  • 4. How valued do you feel by Enterprise Rent-A-Car?
  • I am really enjoying my course. The job I do ties in well with a lot of the spec of the course, which means I can apply real life situations to my work. I have very good support from my team who are willing to help me including reading my work and writing witness testimonies. I have found the course to be a lot less stressful than I anticipated, as I thought the workload would be large, but it has turned out to be quite manageable.

  • 5. How well organised/structured is your programme?
  • I thought I would feel like I was less than everybody else being an apprentice but this really isn't the case. My supervisor and all my colleagues treat me like their equal and occasionally come to me for advice. I feel very appreciated particularly by those in my department and have had some excellent reviews from my supervisor. I am involved in the training of the new staff member who has joined our team and feel they really value my opinion and advice.

  • 6a. How much support do you receive from your training provider?
  • My assessor is very helpful and always asks if I need any extra help. She introduced me to the app for my units which has proved to be very useful. She has also given me test papers for my tests to help me study. Also, every so often we have a review in which they ask about how I am getting on at work, with regards to things such as health and safety and general well-being. It is also easy to contact either my assessor or the assessment centre via telephone or email.

  • 6b. How much support do you receive from your employer?
  • My employer - in particular my supervisor - are very supportive. During my job reviews my supervisor and I will go through my work and discuss work I have done and work I still need to do, as well as my progress with the course. If I have any problems at all , including personal matters I know I can go to my manager and HR including support lines. If I have any problems my colleagues are always there to support me through whatever the issue is.

  • 7. How well does your salary/package meet your costs?
  • My wage isn't amazing - but I know it's not terrible either. As I have to drive, petrol costs me a lot each month, but I do manage. With full time work I would expect a bit more, as there are long hours and hard days, but I do appreciate what I get. I do appreciate the money i get and it's better than nothing plus if i had gone to uni i would be in debt instead.

  • 8. Are there many opportunities outside of work?
  • The company offers many charity events to do such as painting which i was involved in last week. There are also various events which are run by head office which you can get involved in as well. I think there are a few opportunities that are available to the staff members here but i reckon there could be more as well. Whats offered is fun and interesting though.

  • 9. Would you recommend Enterprise Rent-A-Car to a friend?
  • Yes

  • 9b. Why?
  • It is a great place to work, with many opportunities and you can get a really good overview and work experience as well. The education is pretty good and the small wage seems to help out with other expenses at home even if it isn't that great. I would recommend it definitely but i would also say to ensure it's right for you first before you apply.

  • 10. What tips or advice would you give to others applying to Enterprise Rent-A-Car?
  • If you were applying to work at Enterprise you would need to understand that hard work gets rewards. You would need to be focused and have an optimistic attitude towards work, because at times it can be busy. As long as you are willing to work hard, you will be fine. Make sure you also take the time to learn about the company and understand the type of work you'd be doing.
