  • 2. Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
  • I will have academic qualifications in business administration by the end of the course. I have completed internal courses and training which have enabled me to do my job to the best of my ability, and learnt information about how the company works as well as its interaction with the environment, the law, and other companies. I have developed my administration and problem solving skills the most. Professional communication, management of orders and small projects and working as a team to complete all necessary tasks are also skills I have developed.

  • 3. To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
  • I enjoy the tasks I complete daily as they always present a challenge. The team I work with are always helpful and I try and repay this in the work that I do. The company culture is excellent in that we are always pushed to achieve more but we feel proud of what we do achieve. The apprenticeship has definitely met my expectations and I do feel that I enjoy both the working and studying aspects of the course.

  • 4. How valued do you feel by Fujitsu?
  • Although our team plays a small part in the vast company that is Fujitsu, I can see that since joining I have made a difference to the work that we do. I have received recognition from my manager and from the Whitbread project that I have been working with (internal customer). The team also appreciate the work that I do and I have since been asked to participate in other projects due to my attention to detail. I do feel valued in this position.

  • 5. How well organised/structured is your programme?
  • The induction I received from First4Skills and Fujitsu alike was detailed enough for me to feel comfortable in the work and studying that I was doing. I have regular reviews with both my manager and my training assessor whihc helps me know where I stand and what I can do to improve my work. Within the team we know what our responsibilities are, but as time has gone on and I have grown confidence in my work, I have been more able to suggest different delegations to get the work done, and been able to take on more. At first, the programme was quite confusing as I wasn't sure who my training provider was and what my roles were within the team but I soon settled and was aware of what was required.

  • 6a. How much support do you receive from your training provider?
  • My adviser has changed during the course so far but the structure remains the same. I am able to contact them with any questions regarding my studying and have regular monthly contact with them to ensure that the work I am completing is up to scratch and completed on time. Their attitude is positive and they are always willing to assist which in turn helps my drive to get things completed.

  • 6b. How much support do you receive from your employer?
  • My manager has chnged since I have been with Fujitsu but I have always been able to talk to someone about any problems relating to work or any issues which may affect my ability to complete tasks. Support is always accessible through colleagues, my manager, and the apprentice network within Fujitsu. I am able to discuss issues and ways to improve processes where I feel they are necessary.

  • 7. How well does your salary/package meet your costs?
  • This apprenticeship pays better than many which are available. I am able to support myself and learning to drive as I am living at home after leaving uni early. However I am unable to move out as I can't afford the costs. I can also not worry about my finances as much as i used too with my previous part-time job as well which makes me not feel as stressed every month.

  • 8. Are there many opportunities outside of work?
  • we are told about certain events and things that are happening outside and inside work on a weekly basis. every so often someone in the office will organize an evening out one weekend for perhaps a birthday etc. so this is nice to go too and get to know everyone better. Apart from this there's not much else we get chance to take part in.

  • 9. Would you recommend Fujitsu to a friend?
  • Yes

  • 9b. Why?
  • the company is pretty decent and the work is adequate for the wages. you are able to live a life and have a good social life as well as getting a good education and qualifications on the courses you're put on as well as meeting some really friendly people and being part of a well known brand and business as well. I would recommend it to someone definitely.

  • 10. What tips or advice would you give to others applying to Fujitsu?
  • The company shows that it values people and although experience and qualifications, it also believes that attitude is the most important as those who are willing to learn and make a difference will be chosen over those who would rather "coast". Ensure that you are also fairly confident with yourself and in the interview stages too.
