Welding and fabrication apprentice Review

Welding and Fabrication; daily tasks involve looking through assigned work and completing them within the given timeframe. Working with the machine shop and other areas to produce accurate, high quality work that customers are happy to receive. My responsibilities include ensuring my quality of work remains high and prioritising work by the most important while keeping within time constraints. A typical day will include the cutting, welding, grinding and bending of material.

My welding and fabrication skills have developed from almost non-existent to reasonably good within my time here. I am currently learning to use computer aided design software.

The program has frustrating parts but overall is enjoyable, the team I work with are friendly and there are few people I haven't gotten on with.

Earlier in the year I expressed concerns over my course and my ability to complete it. So far, I feel very little has been done about it and I am in danger of failing unless my pathway is changed soon but every time I have brought this up I have been told to wait.

Induction was well structured in the first few weeks, taking us over site safety and various other key points to know before we started. It's hard for me to say past that since I have been in my area since then and haven't rotated. College isn't well organised but that's to be expected from PRC, of the 3 courses I have taken there none have been particularly well organised.

I receive plenty of assistance from my college tutors when needed.

My first manager wasn't very supportive but my new one is. My team leader has given my plenty of guidance for my work.
