  • 2. Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
  • I started with minimal knowledge of the industry. I have developed my knowledge and skills massively since I started in September. My greatest new skills learnt since starting the apprenticeship is how to use the programme Revit.

  • 3. To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
  • I enjoy work very much. All project work Is interesting and I have enjoyed working with every team member. Arup itself met my expectations and more. I am loving it.

  • 4. How valued do you feel by Arup?
  • From the moment you join, you are made to feel a valued member of your team. Since the new year I have became better at my work, which in turn means I hold more responsibility on projects, therefore I do feel even more valued now I am fully contributing to project works and issues.

  • 5. How well organised/structured is your programme?
  • In work my training is very well structured. I rarely run out of work and find everything is organised well. The only lack of organisation is at College, but this is not down to Arup, it is down to the tutors at the college itself.

  • 6a. How much support do you receive from your training provider?
  • At college I find the support varies massively. Since I started in September we have had tutors come and go, some even let go as the level of teaching was simply not good enough. I find half my tutors are great, and love to teach. But the other half lack any passion or hunger to help and support their students.

    5/10

  • 6b. How much support do you receive from your employer?
  • The support I get from my employer is a very different story to that of College. My employers give me constant support in and out of the office at all times. Any help, or quieres are always answered and solved. My mentor is always happy to help and has taught me so much. Likewise, my Manager is always available to offer me any help with anything at all.

    10/10

  • 7. How well does your salary/package meet your costs?
  • My costs are quite large as I travel from far to get to work and especially college, so my travel costs do eat into my salary a lot. But I believe our wage is a very fair competitve salary.

    9/10

  • 8. Are there many opportunities outside of work?
  • Arup always offers events, activities and social events outside of work. I recieve multiple emails with invites every week. Arup members play a lot of sport and participate in large scale football tournements and other sports like tag rugby.

    10/10

  • 9. Would you recommend Arup to a friend?
  • Yes

  • 9b. Why?
  • I believe Arup is one of the greatest places to train as an apprentice and you will learn everything here that you need to have a successful career in the industry.

  • 10. What tips or advice would you give to others applying to Arup?
  • Be positive, attentive and passionate. Be ready and eager to learn and ask as many questions as possible. Take as many oppertunities as possible and work hard with everything you do.
