  • Job roles include: clearing out databases, coding flight based programmes and leading daily stand-ups

  • 2. Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
  • Received a level 4 qualification, no internal official training was given however I did learn a lot of coding and there was a great focus on personal and professional skills within the business.

  • 3. To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
  • The programme was enjoyable however, the work place culture was slightly strained due to huge cuts in the IT department and outsourcing activities

  • 4. How valued do you feel by British Airways?
  • Good appreciation from managers, however senior management didn't want to keep IT apprentices under the BA banner and moved them over to IAG losing a lot of valuable staff benefits.

  • 5. How well organised/structured is your programme?
  • It was a slight lottery system depending on what team you were put into you could excel quite fast or your progress could grind back as some teams were not prepared in the organisation for apprentices. Time was allocated to studying for apprenticeship based exams which was very useful. Leader of apprenticeship programme showed great passion for the programme and was great.

  • QA as a training provider were fantastic, attentive and amazing.

  • 6b. How much support do you receive from your employer?
  • There was some importance towards supporting apprentices however apart from the training provider, providing training no real drive to push us to our limits or to make us specialize in certain areas.

  • 7. How well does your salary/package meet your costs?
  • Living at home package was fair and meets my costs well.

  • 8. Are there many opportunities outside of work?
  • With a plethora of clubs,events and volunteering opportunity this is something British Airways strives in great sense of community.

  • Yes


  • 9b. Why?
  • Still a great brand and the perks of working for British Airways far out weigh the negatives.


  • 10. What tips or advice would you give to others applying to British Airways?
  • - Be ready for anything one day you could be dealing with a small issue next day you're dealing with a huge problem, in an exciting way! - Be ready to drive your development you are put in charge of your development ensure you try to meet your development requirements.
